Fenway Park to Host Bowl Game Between ACC and AAC Teams

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Boston’s Fenway Park will host a new bowl game starting in 2020 featuring football teams from the Atlantic Coast and American Athletic conferences, sources told Stadium.

Fenway Park will join Los Angeles and Myrtle Beach as sites for new bowl games in 2020, which marks the start of the NCAA’s new bowl cycle.

Last year, the NCAA’s Football Oversight Committee approved the addition of a maximum of three new bowl games. Starting in 2020, a record 43 bowls – including the College Football Playoff title game – will be played, meaning a record 65 percent of the 130 FBS schools (84 teams) will play in a bowl.

With the addition of the bowl game in Fenway Park, the ACC will participate in bowl games in the home stadiums of the both the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.

Fenway Park will be the third Major League Baseball stadium to currently host a bowl game, joining the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium and the Cheez-It Bowl at the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Chase Field.
