    Sept. 13 at Bowling Green 45, Indiana 42 
    And You Care Because … In a fantastic back-and-forth shootout, James Knapke found Roger Lewis for a two-yard touchdown pass with just nine seconds to play to give Bowling Green the wild win. Indiana took a 14-3 lead in the second quarter on a 22-yard touchdown catch from J-Shun Harris, but Bowling Green stayed alive on four Tyler Tate field goals before Knapke went to work in the second half, starting with a 40-yard Ronnie Moore touchdown catch. Tevin Coleman and the running game did the work for IU, with touchdown runs from 28, 36 and 31 yards out, but the Falcon offense always had an answer in the second half. Nate Sudfeld gave IU a 42-39 lead with just over two minutes to play on a one-yard run, but Bowling Green went on an 11-play, 88-yard drive leading to the game-winning score. 
    What Else? Bowling Green QB James Knapke completed 46-of-73 passes for 395 yards and three touchdowns with a pick, and Roger Lewis caught 16 passes for 149 yards and a game-winning score. 
    – Indiana RB Tevin Coleman ran 24 times for 190 yards and three scores. 
    – Bowling Green WR Roger Lewis caught 16 passes for 149 yards and a score. 
    – Total yard: Indiana 582 – Bowling Green 571, but IU committed 11 penalties for 143 yards. Bowling Green just four for 42.
    Game Rating: A 

    Sept. 13 West Virginia 40, at Maryland 37 
    And You Care Because … Josh Lambert nailed a 47-yard field goal to give West Virginia the win in a wild shootout. Clint Trickett threw for 511 yards and four touchdowns with scoring plays to Mario Alford from 43 and 36 yards out, but Maryland came back from down 28-6 helped by a 75-yard C.J. Brown touchdown run along with a slew of Mountaineer special teams mistakes. William Likely tied the game for the Terps on a 69-yard punt return for a score midway through the fourth, but the two offenses finally slowed down until Trickett led WVU on a 13-play drive leading to the Lambert game-winner. 
    What Else? West Virginia QB Clint Trickett completed 37-of-49 passes for 511 yards and four touchdowns with a pick. Kevin White caught 13 passes for 216 yards and a score, and Mario Alford caught 11 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. 
    – Maryland QB C.J. Brown completed 19-of-35 passes for 241 yards and a score with a pick, and ran 18 times for 161 yards and a touchdown. 
    – Special teams almost killed West Virginia with a muffed punt, a punt return allowed for a score, and a missed field goal, but a blocked punt led to a key safety to give the Mountaineers a three point lead. 
    – West Virginia LB Nick Kwiatkoski made 12 tackles with two broken up passes and three tackles for loss. 
    Game Rating: A 

    Sept. 13 Iowa State 20, at Iowa 17 
    And You Care Because … With the game tied at 17, Iowa State’s Cole Netten missed a 42-yard field goal with two seconds to play. One problem – Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz called a time out. Netten got a second chance, nailed the kick, and the Cyclones came away with the win. Iowa had a 14-3 lead in the first half on short touchdown runs from Mark Weisman and Jake Rudock, but the Hawkeye offense stalled in the second half. It took a 44-yard Marshall Koehn field goal to tie it up after Iowa State took the lead on a one-yard E.J. Bibbs run and a 27-yard DeVondrick Nealy scoring grab. 
    What Else? Iowa State QB Sam Richardson completed 25-of-37 passes for 255 yards and two scores, and he ran eight times for 29 yards. 
    – Iowa QB Jake Rudock completed 16-of-24 passes for 146 yards and a pick, he also ran 12 times for 39 yards and a touchdown. 
    – Iowa State ran for just 82 yards on 26 carries. Aaron Wimberly led the team with 33 yards on 11 carries. 
    – Iowa was held to 129 rushing yards and under three yards per carry, but scored twice. 
    Game Rating: B 

    Sept. 13 Penn State 13, at Rutgers 10 
    And You Care Because … Christian Hackenberg and Geno Lewis led the way on a late 80-yard drive finished off with a five-yard Bill Belton touchdown run to give Penn State the win and Rutgers its first loss in the Big Ten. The Scarlet Knights took a 10-0 lead in the second on a 14-yard Gary Nova scoring run and a 32-yard Kyle Federico field goal, but it was all Penn State in the second half with two Sam Ficken field goals to cap off two long drives. Rutgers’ final drive ended with a pick. 
    What Else? Penn State QB Christian Hackenberg completed 25-of-44 passes for 309 yards and a pick. Geno Lewis caught six passes for 109 yards and DaeSean Hamilton caught eight passes for 103 yards. 
    – Rutgers RB Paul James ran six times for 51 yards. 
    – Rutgers came up with five sacks and eight tackles for loss, and QB Gary Nova completed 14-of-30 passes for 192 yards and five picks. 
    – Penn State CB Trevor Williams was second on the team with five tackles and two picks. 
    Game Rating: B- 

    Sept. 13 Notre Dame 30, Purdue 14 in Indianapolis
    And You Care Because … Notre Dame sputtered early, but Everett Golson saved the day with a 15-yard touchdown run late in the first half and a 15-yard scoring play to Corey Robinson as part of a run of 20 unanswered points. Purdue took a 14-10 lead on the second of two Danny Etling touchdown passes, but the banged up Irish defense held the Boilermakers off the scoreboard over the final 33 minutes. 
    What Else? Notre Dame QB Everett Golson completed 25-of-40 passes for 259 yards, and ran 14 times for 56 yards and a score. 
    – Purdue QB Danny Etling completed 27-of-40 passes for 234 yards and two scores with two picks. 
    – Notre Dame RB Amir Carlisle suffered an injured knee, and defensive backs Cole Luke (neck) and Nicky Baratti (shoulder) were hurt. 
    – Notre Dame DE Romeo Okwara led the team with 11 tackles with a half a sack and a forced fumble. 
    Game Rating: C+ 

    Sept. 13 at Michigan 34, Miami University 10 
    And You Care Because … It wasn’t a dominant bounceback performance, but the Wolverines pulled away from a 10-10 tie with 24 unanswered points. Devin Gardner threw two touchdown passes including a 29-yarder to Jake Butt, and Derrick Green ran for two short scores. 
    What Else? Michigan turned the ball over three times, but outgained Miami 460 yards to 198. 
    – Michigan RB Derrick Green ran 22 times for 37 yards and two touchdowns. 
    – Miami ran 24 times for 33 yards. QB Andrew Hendrix completed 12-of-26 passes for 165 yards and a score with a pick
    – Michigan QB Devin Gardner completed 13-of-20 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns with a pick 
    Game Rating: C- 

    Sept. 13 at Washington 44, Illinois 19 
    And You Care Because … Washington stomped all over Illinois from the start with a 28-3 lead on a 75-yard John Ross touchdown catch and helped by a 36-yard pick six from Shaq Thompson, who later added a 52-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Illinois came up with some amazing plays, with Geronimo Allison making a fingertip catch from 27 yards out to go along with a 60-yard touchdown, but Cameron Van Winkle added three field goals to stay easily ahead. 
    What Else? Washington QB Cyler Miles completed 15-of-20 passes for 191 yards and a score. He also ran for 55 yards on nine carries. 
    – Illinois turned it over three times and committed 11 penalties for 110 yards, and Washington committed eight penalties for 73 yards and a score.
    – Washington converted 8-of-16 third down chances, Illinois 1-of-11.
    – Illinois WR Geronimo Allison caught six passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns. 
    Game Rating: D+ 

    Sept. 13 at TCU 30, Minnesota 7 
    And You Care Because … TCU destroyed Minnesota scoring the first 30 points of the game, highlighted by brilliant catches from Josh Doctson, scoring from 13 and seven yards out. Jaden Oberkrom added three field goals from 46, 45 and 12 yards away, and B.J. Catalon barreled in from one-yard out. Minnesota turned the ball over five times and didn’t get on the board until the fourth quarter on a 12-yard Maxx Williams catch. 
    What Else? TCU QB Trevone Boykin completed 27-of-46 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns with a pick, and he ran 12 times for 92 yards. 
    – Minnesota star RB David Cobb was held to 41 yards on 15 carries. Mitch Leidner completed 12-of-26 passes for 151 yards and three picks, and ran nine times for four yards. 
    – The two teams combined to convert just five of 28 third down chances. 
    – TCU WR Josh Doctson caught six passes for 64 yards and two scores. 
    Game Rating: D+ 

    Sept. 13 Nebraska 55, at Fresno State 19 
    And You Care Because … Nebraska hit two home runs right away on a 70-yard pass play to Jordan Westerkamp and a 57-yard Ameer Abdullah touchdown run within the first three minutes, and got up 34-5 before Fresno State finally got into the end zone on a 66-yard Brian Burrell touchdown dash. De’Mornay Pierson-El added an 86-yard punt return for a score and Imani Cross rolled up a 62-yard scoring dash in the blowout. 
    What Else? Nebraska cranked up 282 passing yards and 280 on the ground. 
    – Fresno State QB Brian Burrell completed 30-of-59 passes for 241 yards and a score, and ran nine times for 59 yards with a 66-yard score. 
    – The Huskers came up with four sacks and 12 tackles for loss. 
    – Nebraska RB Ameer Abdullah ran 19 times for 110 yards and a score. 
    Game Rating: D 

    Sept. 13 at Ohio State 66, Kent State 0 
    And You Care Because … J.T. Barrett threw six touchdown passes with two to Michael Thomas, and Curtis Samuel ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns as Ohio State took out its Virginia Tech frustrations on Kent State. The Golden Flash offense only managed 79 passing yards and 47 on the ground, turning it over three times. 
    What Else? It wasn’t a perfect performance for Ohio State, but there’s no problem with 628 yards and 66 points. There were three turnovers, but they didn’t matter. 
    – Kent State didn’t have any room to move – the offense was warmed under. Colin Reardon completed 14-of-27 passes for 76 yards and three picks, and Nathan Strock completed one of seven throws for three yards. 
    – Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett completed 23-of-30 passes for 312 yards and six touchdowns with a pick, and best of all, he only ran eight times for six yards. He doesn’t need to run – the running backs have to keep getting the ball. 
    – Third down conversions: Ohio State 8-of-12 – Kent State 2-of-14
