    Follow me … don’t cost nothin’ @PeteFiutak

    1. DT Malcom Brown 6-2, 319

    – Extremely active, he’s always working and always moving with a great motor and terrific quickness off the ball to get behind the line. He moves like a defensive end but can use his strength to bully up inside when needed. He might not have the ideal height, but he uses his frame well.

    – He might need to be next to a big and power defensive tackle. He’s not an anchor and he’s not going to be the main man for a defensive front, but he could be a whale of a complementary defender who’s asked to be disruptive.

Yes or No: Yeah, but he might not be the type of centerpiece defensive tackle that many might hope he is. However, with his athleticism and his style, he could become a devastating stat-sheet filler.

    2. OLB Jordan Hicks 6-1, 234

    – He’s a good all-around prospect and he’s going to be everything a team wants, but can he stay healthy? He missed way too much of his career, and while that doesn’t necessarily make him injury-prone, he’s been worn down by life. If you could promise that he’d stay in one piece, he’s be a top 50 pick.

    – Able to play inside or out, the tools are all there with great size, excellent quickness, and solid straight-line speed. He’s an athlete with explosive ability to go along with his great character and smarts. He’s a pure football player and a great leader.

Yes or No: He’ll slide because of the constant injury issues, but he’s the type of player you want in the linebacking corps. He’s worth a third round pick, and he could be one of the draft’s biggest steals after the first 100 picks are off the board.

    Round Value: Fourth Round

    3. CB Quandre Diggs 5-9, 196

    – The guy is simply a good football player. He might not be huge, and he might not be all that fast, and he might not be the ideal prospect in any one way for any one position, but he can play. Terrific in the open field, he can tackle and get his nose dirty, and he’s not bad at getting into the backfield.

    – Experienced, he’s savvy and knows what he’s doing. While he’ll have problems with NFL speed receivers, and he’s not going to be all that tough or effective against the more powerful targets, he’s be fine in the slot.

Yes or No?: Maybe. The problem is that he doesn’t have an NFL position. He’s too good a player not to hang around on a roster and be a part of a scheme, but he needs to be surrounded by speed.

    Round Value: Fifth Round

    4. RB Malcolm Brown 5-11, 224

    – While he never lived up to his immense prep hype, he’s a quick, compact back with a little bit of fight. There’s nothing special about his game, and he’s not going to make a team win because he’s the one running the ball, but he’s going to give it a good effort.

    – He’ll block and he’ll catch the ball just fine. There’s enough there to be decent enough at everything to hang on to a roster spot. He’ll be a great insurance policy.

Yes or No?: As a safe backup, yes. He’s the textbook definition of a serviceable back. He’ll have a few great games when called upon, but he’s not going to be anything more than a decent option off the bench.

    Round Value: Sixth Round

    5. DE Cedric Reed 6-5, 269

    – He’s more of a sound, solid end than a dangerous playmaker who’ll destroy someone’s backfield. He’s good enough to start at an NFL level, but he’s not going to be a pass rusher who’ll scare anyone from the outside.

    – To go cliché, he has to do more than look like Tarzan. He’s an NFL player, and he’s going to find a home in the league, but, at some point, can he blow someone’s doors off with the explosion and speed to go along with the appearance? The tools are in place, but they have to translate.

Yes or No: There’s a lot of upside. He’s a boring pick because he’s not going to show much flash, but he’s the type of end who ends up hanging around the league for a while because he’ll do a little of everything right – and he’ll progress.
