The 2017 men’s Frozen Four teams have been set, with three of the four No. 1 seeds making it to Chicago for the semifinals.

After an intense weekend of college hockey that saw some great games and close finishes, the 2017 Frozen Four contestants have been determined. And while none of the four semifinalists are exactly new faces at this stage of the tournament, only one team from last year’s final four will be returning this time around.

Denver, the tournament’s overall number one seed, Minnesota-Duluth, Harvard and Notre Dame all punched their ticket to Chicago to compete for the national championship. Notre Dame, the Northeast Region’s No. 4 seed, is the only non-No. 1 seed to reach this year’s Frozen Four. The semifinal games are set for Thursday, April 6th with the national title game scheduled for Saturday, April 8th.

Denver is the only team in this year’s final four who also made it to the 2016 final four in Tampa Bay. To get here, they knocked off Michigan Tech and Penn State.

Minnesota-Duluth needed two consecutive overtime victories against Ohio State and Boston University to make it out of the West Region. Both games ended with a score of 3-2.

Harvard shutout Providence 3-0 in the first round before defeating Air Force 3-2 in the regional final. Their two goals against is the lowest total of any of the four teams entering the semifinals.

Lastly, Notre Dame, this year’s Frozen Four host team, comes into the semis fresh off of wins against No. 1 seed Minnesota and UMass Lowell. The argument could be made that the Irish had the toughest road to the semifinals of any of the four teams to reach this point.
