There will be 32 automatic bids earned to the 2019 NCAA Tournament over the course of the next two weeks. Many conference tournaments will be won by teams that would’ve made the NCAA Tournament regardless of how they fared in their conference tournament but some teams will “steal” valuable auto-bids, meaning they wouldn’t have made the NCAA Tournament without having won their conference tournaments.
These bid stealers help shape the NCAA Tournament bubble, as each stolen bid ultimately prevents an at-large hopeful from making the tournament.
