Three Memorable Games
1. Georgia Runs Out Of Time – December 1, 2012 – Georgia Dome (Atlanta, GA) – With a trip to the BCS National Championship Game on the line, the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs met in the SEC Championship Game. Down 32-28 with nine seconds left, Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray’s pass was deflected and landed in the arms of receiver Chris Conley. Conley was tackled at the five-yard line, and the clock ran out. Alabama would go on to demolish Notre Dame to win its third national title in four years.
2. Stafford To Henderson – September 22, 2007 – Bryant-Denny Stadium (Tuscaloosa, AL) – Alabama was 3-0 and ranked No. 16 in Nick Saban’s first year on the job in Tuscaloosa. This was the national moment Alabama fans had been waiting for with College GameDay in town. Quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Georgia Bulldogs had other plans. The game was tied 20-20 at the end of regulation, and on their first possession, the Tide had to settle for a field goal. One play was all the Bulldogs would need. Stafford found receiver Mikey Henderson in the left side of the endzone for a 25-yard touchdown and a 26-23 victory.
3. Shut Down And Shut Out – September 21, 1991 – Bryant-Denny Stadium (Tuscaloosa, AL) – Alabama was reeling coming off of a humiliating 35-0 loss to the Florida Gators, and Georgia was feeling good after a win against LSU. The Bulldogs never had a chance, as the stout Crimson Tide defense shut down the Georgia offense, winning 10-0 and starting a 28-game winning streak for the Crimson Tide that included the 1992 National Championship Game rout of Miami.
