Four-Star Point Guard Alex Barcello Unveils Top Five

Four-star point guard Alex Barcello has cut his list of schools down to five. He is the No. 25 point guard in the 2017 class.

Five schools remain in the running for 4-star point guard Alex Barcello. The crafty floor general took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to reveal his list of suitors, and it’s impressive.

In alphabetical order, Barcello’s top five schools include Arizona, Butler, Indiana, Stanford and Virginia.

One of the top prospects out of Arizona, Barcello is the No. 25 point guard in the 2017 class, and for good reason. He’s the true definition of a point guard, controlling the tempo of every game and displaying a healthy balance of strong shooting and good passing.

“They are all great schools,” Barcello told Scout’s Evan Daniels. “I knew that they had great coaching staff and I have a great relationship with the coaching staffs at these schools and I know they are great environments to play basketball in and they are great academically. I just felt like these are the schools that I would fit in best.”

Barcello has excellent ball-handling skills and thrives in transition. The 6-foot-2 point guard can get creative when bringing the ball up the floor, and sets his teammates up with ease.

When he’s not setting a play or finding an open teammate, though, Barcello is still a difference-maker on the floor. He has a stellar shooting ability to compliment his passing game. He’s capable of driving to the rim and is a sniper from three-point range.

Barcello said he plans to commit early.

“I want to sign November 12th, whenever I feel like the right place or whatever is the right place for me, I’ll probably commit then.”
