Arizona vs. Wichita State picks for the NCAA Tournament’s South Region first-round game.

The Wichita State Shockers won their Tuesday night play-in game against the Vanderbilt Commodores, upholding the notion that Vanderbilt can win at home, but not too many other places.

Now the 11-seed Shockers set their sights on the 6-seed Arizona Wildcats. Arizona had a bit of an up-and-down season. Long winning stretches were punctured by bursts of losses. Three times this season the Wildcats have had winning streaks snapped with two-game losing streaks, then rediscovering a rhythm. Sean Miller’s Wildcats are well-tested, having come out of a stacked Pac-12.

End of the day, both Miller and Gregg Marshall are fantastic coaches and great in-game strategists. This game should be an exceptional chess match for an opportunity to advance in the South Region.

Ultra-talented – again – the Wildcats will struggle with Wichita State and have an even harder time with Miami before getting bounced in the Sweet 16 against Villanova.

Sean Miller is one of those coaches that has a way of coaxing the best out of his players this time of year, going back to his days at Xavier. The Wildcats will be around for a while.

Shae Peppler

Coach Miller will and usually does have his team prepared for the tournament. I think this Pac-12 is wildly underrated, Arizona advances.

Ken Bikoff

The Wildcats are going to use their quickness and ability to score in transition to get to the weekend.

Jordan Cornette

Arizona’s tough interior, featuring rugged Kaleb Tarczewski and the skilled Ryan Anderson, will be too much for Wichita State to overcome.
