The Arkansas Razorbacks will square off against the Kansas State Wildcats in Memphis on Jan. 2 for the Liberty Bowl.

The Razorbacks (7-5, 5-3 SEC) are making their second consecutive bowl appearance and 41st in the history of the program. Arkansas finished the 2015 regular season strong winning five of its last six games, including a 28-3 victory over Missouri last time out. Alex Collins was the star of the show, turning 30 carries into 130 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Kody Walker complimented Collins in the Razorback backfield with 14 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown of his own. Arkansas will look to build on its postseason success from last year when the Hogs defeated Texas, 31-7, in the Texas Bowl.

The Wildcats (6-6, 3-6 Big 12) are making their second consecutive bowl appearance as well and 19th in school history. Kansas State’s 2015 campaign was streaky to say the least, as the Wildcats followed up six straight losses with three straight wins to end the season. Last time out, Kansas State defeated West Virginia, 24-23, in Manhattan. The Mountaineers had a 23-17 advantage, but the Wildcats took the lead on a 97-yard kickoff return from Morgan Burns and held on for the win. Kody Cook filled in for the injured Joe Hubener and flourished at the quarterback position passing for 121 yards and a touchdown with no turnovers. Deante Burton was the beneficiary of Cook’s performance hauling in five catches for 135 yards and a touchdown. Kansas State hopes to fair better in this year’s bowl game than the 2014 Alabama Bowl, when the Wildcats fell to the UCLA Bruins, 40-35.

The 2015 Liberty Bowl is the sixth matchup between Arkansas and Kansas State. The Razorbacks have taken the last two meetings in 1967 and the 2012 Cotton Bowl.

    Prediction

Does Bill Snyder have any magic? His team is just okay, and it’s not even close to being good enough to win this if Arkansas plays up to its capabilities. The Hog offense will be too good, too explosive, and too balanced. Kansas State doesn’t have the talent – but that hasn’t mattered for past Snyder teams.
