Arkansas vs. Seton Hall prediction and game preview, as the No. 8 Razorbacks and No. 9 Pirates face off in the NCAA Tournament.
In the NCAA Tournament, when those seeds start to get closer together, anything can happen. And that’s exactly what we have here. Arkansas was given a No. 8 seed in the South region after the Razorbacks finished their season at 25-9.
They’ll be taking on No. 9-seeded Seton Hall, and the Pirates are no joke. They wrapped up their season with a 21-11 mark, and we should be in for a great matchup.
Below is a complete preview and prediction for Arkansas vs. Seton Hall.
Date: March 17, 2017
Venue: Bon Secours Wellness Arena, Greenville, S.C.
Region: South
Arkansas gets good production off the bench from the likes of Daryl Macon, a former starter who moved to the reserve role over the latter part of the season. He makes for one of eight players who have played in all 31 regular season games and averaged double-digit minutes for the Razorbacks. Arkansas also shot 76% from the free throw line in the regular season, meaning any close, clock-bleeding games will benefit the SEC’s surprise team.
With a 0.8 rebound margin, the Razorbacks have a tendency to get beaten on the boards. They’re also a team that has trouble against more talented teams – losing all games against ranked opponents, save one. Slow starts have also hampered the Razorbacks (18 first-half points against Vanderbilt, 25 against Minnesota – both losses) so it’s imperative for Arkansas to get into a groove early.

Angel Delgado is one of the most underrated players in the country despite playing in a major conference. The 6-foot-10 junior led the nation in rebounds per game (13.1) and tied Purdue’s Caleb Swanigan for the national lead in double-doubles (25) during the regular season. Delgado doesn’t get nearly enough credit, but he has the ability to carry Seton Hall into the second weekend.
Khadeen Carrington is extremely talented, but he’s also inconsistent. He especially went through a shooting slump toward the end of the regular season. The junior guard will need to snap out of it once the NCAA Tournament starts if the Pirates want to make a run.

Scoring Margin: 6.4 (72)
Rebounding Margin: 0.8 (158)
Turnover Margin: 1.3 (100)
3-Point FG Percentage: 36.8% (89)
Scoring Margin: 3.2 (135)
Rebounding Margin: 6.5 (21)
Turnover Margin: -1.3 (265)
3-Point FG Percentage: 33.6% (246)
After falling to Kentucky in the SEC title game, the Razorbacks are going to come out hungrier than ever against the Pirates. Daryl Macon will provide some instant offense off the bench, and Arkansas will slow down Angel Delgado enough to take the win and advance.
