Auburn’s annual A-Day spring game takes place on Saturday, April 8. Here is a main storyline and player to watch out for as the Tigers take the field.
There has been a lot of hype for Auburn thus far during the offseason, especially with the arrival of Baylor transfer Jarrett Stidham. With Stidham under center and a new offensive coordinator in Chip Lindsey who loves to employ an aerial attack, the Tigers should be more of a threat in the passing game than in recent years.
Stidham still has to win the job, though, and the rushing duo of Kam Pettway and Kerryon Johnson will provide a powerful punch in the backfield. With the annual A-Day game on Saturday, here are a couple of things to look out for from the Tigers scrimmage.
A-Day Broadcast Information
Date: Saturday, April 8
Time: 2:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Jordan-Hare Stadium
Broadcast: SEC Network
How open will head coach Gus Malzahn allow Lindsey to be with the offense? Recently, Malzahn admitted to being one of the most guarded coaches when it comes to showing his hand during scrimmages. Auburn fans, however, will be looking to see what Stidham can do along with the talented, but inexperienced, group of receivers.
Will it be a typical Malzahn run up the middle with a few passes thrown in, or will Lindsey be able to open up? Tigers fans are hoping for the latter.
Player To Watch
DT Andrew Williams – Gone is Montravius Adams, and it is up to Williams to pick up his play and fill the void. The Tigers finished No. 7 in scoring defense last season, allowing just 17.1 points per game. A lot of that had to do with the play of Adams and Carl Lawson on the defensive line. How Adams has progressed will have a lot to do with if Kevin Steele’s unit can continue that success.
