Auburn, Southern Miss Agree To 2018, 2020 Football Series

Auburn and Southern Mississippi have agreed to a football series. The Tigers and Golden Eagles will face off during the 2018 and 2020 seasons.

The Auburn Tigers and Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles have agreed to a future series.

Auburn and Southern Mississippi will meet on the football field for the first time since 2008 during the 2018 and 2020 seasons, it was announced on Thursday.

“I’m excited to announce the renewal of our long series with Southern Miss,” Auburn athletics director Jay Jacobs said. “I remember kicking off our 1983 SEC Championship season against aubuthe Golden Eagles. It’s fitting to announce these games one month before we each have a player enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Auburn’s Kevin Greene, and USM’s Brett Favre. I know Auburn people will enjoy welcoming the Golden Eagles back to Jordan-Hare in 2018 and 2020.”

Both games will be played at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn and take place in late September. The two have met 22 previous times, with Auburn holding the overall advantage at 17-5.

The Golden Eagles upset the Tigers twice in a row back in 1990 and 1991, with NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre leading the way in the first matchup, a 13-12 victory.
