Team: Austin Peay Governors

Conference:
Ohio Valley Conference

Head coach:

How they got here:
Won conference tournament

The Good

Get to know Chris Horton, and get to know him right now. He’s a monster scorer who shoots 60 percent from the floor; a demon on the glass with quick hands and good timing on defense. In order to knock off the Governors, teams have to stop Horton and try to make other players hurt them. Josh Robinson and Khalil Davis provide balance to the floor, and Kenny Jones scores a lot off putbacks when teams are focusing too much on Horton.

The Bad

This isn’t the deepest team in the NCAA Tournament, and few clubs are as sloppy with the ball as the Governors. APSU can be one-dimensional at times, and when Horton isn’t on the floor, the Governors can struggle to put points on the board. Inconsistency has been an issue all season.

Prediction

The Governors’ only RPI top 100 win came this year vs. Belmont, and they were only 2-9 vs. RPI top 150 teams. In other words, APSU could throw a scare into a team, but it’s more likely they will be a quick out.
