A first look at the AutoNation Cure Bowl matchup between the San Jose State Spartans and Georgia State Panthers
Date: Saturday, December 19

Network: CBSSN
Venue: Citrus Bowl Stadium, Orlando, FL
See what happens when you go to class? San Jose state might not be a top-shelf team this year losing three games in its final four to finish with a losing record, but the strong Academic Progress Report earned the current players a bowl bid they couldn’t get on their own. RB Tyler Ervin is always worth the price of admission, and the pass defense has been stunningly awesome, but this bowl is going to be about taking advantage of the opportunity. Losers of three of their last four games, and four of their last six, it might not be the most attractive team, but they’re entertaining. Hit the books, get a bowl.
Last year the Panthers finished 1-11 with the lone win coming to Abilene Christian in the opener. 0-its-first-26 against FBS teams after moving up to the FBS world, and 1-for-30 going into mid-October, the passing game geared it up, and all of a sudden the Panthers became unstoppable at times winning five of their last seven games to become bowl eligible. Making things sweeter was the 34-7 blowout win over Georgia Southern to get to six wins, so while winning the bowl would be nice, the team is playing with house money.
