Week 5 Big 12 Football Picks And Spreads
Kansas at Iowa State
Date: Saturday, Oct. 3
Kickoff: 12:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Jack Trice Stadium
If the 1-2 Iowa State Cyclones wanted to see anyone on the opposing sideline after their week off, it’s the winless Kansas Jayhawks. After a season-opening victory over Northern Iowa, Iowa State has struggled. As for Kansas, the Jayhawks are still looking for the first victory in David Beaty’s first season. It won’t come this weekend against Iowa State.
Pick: Iowa State
Spread: Iowa State -16

No. 23 West Virginia at No. 15 Oklahoma
Date: Saturday, Oct. 3
Kickoff: 12:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Memorial Stadium
It could be a high-scoring contest in Norman as Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield and Mountaineers quarterback Skyler Howard can light up the scoreboard. The two have combined to throw for more than 1,900 yards and 19 touchdowns so far this season. And while the passing games will have success, Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine is going to be the difference maker.
Pick: Oklahoma
Spread: Oklahoma -7

Texas at No. 4 TCU
Date: Saturday, Oct. 3
Kickoff: 12:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Amon G. Carter Stadium
TCU barely survived a trip to Lubbock last week, winning on a tipped-passed touchdown. Now, the Horned Frogs host the struggling Longhorns. Do-it-all quarterback Trevone Boykin and the TCU offense will be too much for Texas to handle.
Pick: TCU
Spread: TCU -15

Texas Tech vs. No. 5 Baylor
Date: Saturday, Oct. 3
Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. ET
Venue: AT&T Stadium
A week after coming oh-so-close to pulling off the upset against TCU, Texas Tech must find a way to stop the potent Baylor attack. Don’t forget about the Tech offense, though, as the Red Raiders can also put up points in bunches. The first team to 50 wins, and that’ll be the Bears.
Pick: Baylor
Spread: Baylor -17

Kansas State at No. 20 Oklahoma State
Date: Saturday, Oct. 3
Kickoff: 4:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Boone Pickens Stadium
An undefeated matchup in Stillwater caps off the day. Oklahoma State’s offense will prove just a tad bit better than Kansas State’s defense in this one. Cowboys remain undefeated.
