A year after Oklahoma ran all over its in-state rivals in Stillwater, Oklahoma State will travel to Norman this week looking to avenge that loss and claim the Big 12 title. For a conference that lacks an official title game, Bedlam will serve as the de facto championship game for the second year in a row.
In 2015, both teams came into the game at Boone Pickens Stadium at 10-1 with eyes on a potential playoff berth. The Sooners entered on a six-game win streak while the Cowboys had just suffered their first loss of the season against Baylor. That momentum for the Sooners proved to be key as Joe Mixon, Samaje Perine and Baker Mayfield combined for 344 yards rushing and five touchdowns. Oklahoma jumped out to a 44-17 first half lead and easily cruised to a 58-23 victory.
Elsewhere, Baylor travels to Morgantown to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers. At the season’s halfway point this game looked like it could be for the conference title. However, after Baylor suffered a late swoon, and West Virginia stumbled against the two Oklahoma teams all shots of a title went out the window. A victory for the Mountaineers would mark the program’s first double-digit win season since Dana Holgorsen’s first year at the helm (2011).
