Here’s the information and bracket for the 2016 Big South Basketball Tournament.
It was a tight race in the Big South this year, with Winthrop and High Point tying for the regular season conference title at a 13-5 record in conference play. Coastal Carolina and UNC Asheville, meanwhile, were only one game behind in the standings, as both schools posted a conference record of 12-6.
High Point held the slight advantage with its 20-9 overall record, which puts the Panthers in line for the No. 1 overall seed in the Big South Conference tournament.
Led by senior forward John Brown, who averages nearly 20 points per game, the Panthers are looking for their first Big South Tournament championship in school history, having come in second place in 2004 and 2002.
Though High Point is slotted at the top, it’s safe to say that no team is safe in the Big South. With how strong Winthrop, Coast Carolina, UNC Asheville, and even Gardner-Webb have performed, it’s anyone’s bid come tourney time.
