Big Ten Football Rankings – Week 4

Big Ten football rankings entering Week 4 of the 2016 season. Ohio State and Michigan State pick up big road wins, and Michigan rallies at home as the top three remains the same.

Saturday didn’t start too well for the Big Ten. Wisconsin struggled to beat Georgia State. Then, in the biggest stunner of the weekend, Iowa lost at home to North Dakota State, which has made a habit of beating FBS teams.

Then the big boys took over. Michigan shook off some early issues and beat Colorado. Michigan State went into South Bend and hung on to beat the Fighting Irish before Ohio State capped the night by routing Oklahoma.

Here’s a look at how we see the Big Ten heading into Week 4.

14. Rutgers

Fell behind by 21 early then rallied for a big win over New Mexico.

13. Northwestern

Finally gets in the win column by beating Duke at home under the lights.

12. Purdue

Had a bye week after losing to Cincinnati.

11. Illinois

Western Michigan clearly was the better team all day.

10. Indiana

Had the week off after beating Ball State.

9. Minnesota

The 2-0 Golden Gophers had the week off.

8. Maryland

Double-overtime victory at UCF improves the Terps to 3-0.

7. Penn State

Nice victory over Temple to bounce back from the loss to Pittsburgh.

6. Iowa

Coach Kirk Ferentz said North Dakota State wasn’t going to be intimidated going into Iowa City. He was right.

5. Nebraska

Cornhuskers coach Mike Riley played up the visit from Oregon and Nebraska came out on top in a huge win.

4. Wisconsin

Barely pulled out a win over Georgia State after benching Bart Houston for Alex Hornibrook.

3. Michigan State

Huge win for the Spartans at Notre Dame, setting up a showdown with the Badgers next week in East Lansing.

2. Michigan

Struggled for awhile against Colorado. Then Jabrill Peppers happened.

1. Ohio State

The Buckeyes have won all 19 road games under Urban Meyer after crushing Oklahoma.
