Big Ten Football Standings – Week 14

Big Ten football standings for Week 14 of the season. All eyes were on Columbus, and The Game did not fail to deliver.

What a game. The Game. Jim Harbaugh might still be bristling over the officiating, but for the viewing audience, the 112th edition of The Game was an instant classic. Defensive scores, special teams miscues and clutch plays made for a contest that was too big for 60 minutes. Not even an overtime could hold it. It took two extra periods to finally settle a game that, after Ohio State locked up the victory, sent Urban Meyer to his knees.

The Buckeyes’ victory sent Penn State’s crowd into a frenzy when it found out, as the Nittany Lions were pummeling Michigan State and had effectively locked up the Big Ten East (by virtue of owning a tiebreaker over the Buckeyes). What a season for Penn State. It started with James Franklin on the hot seat, and now has his team playing in Indianapolis for a conference title and a potential berth in the College Football Playoff.

In the West, Iowa’s dismantling of Nebraska on Friday sealed the division for Wisconsin. Still possessing an outside shot at the CFP, the Badgers still took care of business by soundly defeating Minnesota, 31-17, to retain Paul Bunyan’s Axe and tie the all-time series.
