Brett McMurphy’s AP Top 25 Poll for Week 8: LSU is New No. 1 Team

Here's Stadium College Football Insider Brett McMurphy's AP Top 25 ballot for Week 8.

Eight ranked teams lost in Week 7 so my Associated Press Top 25 ballot has a much, much different look this week.

Starting at the top with LSU.

The Tigers are my new No. 1 team, based on the Tigers having the two best victories against quality opponents than anyone else: at Texas last month and vs. Florida Saturday.

The rest of my top seven are all undefeated: Alabama, Oklahoma, Clemson, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State.

Despite the loss at LSU, Florida remains in my top 10, followed by Georgia and Notre Dame.

I have four new teams on my ballot this week: No. 21 Minnesota, No. 22 Cincinnati, No. 23 Appalachian State and No. 24 Tulane.

Dropping out of my top-25 rankings: Memphis, Texas A&M, Wake Forest and Virginia.

    My AP ballot (last week):

    1. LSU (4)
    2. Alabama (2)
    3. Oklahoma (6)
    4. Clemson (3)
    5. Ohio State (5)
