If you loved my Heisman Trophy ballot last week, you will love this week’s, because my top three stayed the same.

There is usually some shuffling among the top three, but not this week.

I’ll update my list each Tuesday. However, I will not reveal my official Heisman ballot in the first week of December. The Heisman trust prohibits Heisman voters from disclosing their ballot until after the Heisman ceremony on Dec. 8.

    My current top three:

    1. Will Grier, West Virginia

Grier remains on top of my list after lighting up Texas Tech for 370 yards and three TDs. The three touchdowns were actually a season-low for Grier, which shows what kind of season he’s having. For the year, Grier has 17 TDs and three interceptions. His 371 yards per game ranks third nationally and his 4.1 TD passes per game is the nation’s best.

Up next: WVU hosts Kansas on Saturday.

    2. Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama

Tagovailoa remains the overwhelming favorite in Vegas to win the Heisman. Behind Tagovailoa, the Crimson Tide has topped 500 yards in all five games this season. Last year, Bama only had 500 yards in four of 14 games. Amazingly, Tagovailoa has yet to attempt a pass in the fourth quarter this season. That probably won’t happen this week either.

Up next: Alabama visits Arkansas on Saturday.

    3. Dwayne Haskins, Ohio State

Haskins came up big for the Buckeyes in their come-from-behind win at Penn State Saturday. Haskins threw for 270 yards and three touchdowns, including two in the final seven minutes. His 19 TD passes ranks second nationally to Hawaii’s Cole McDonald.

Up next: Ohio State hosts Indiana Saturday.

If the Heisman would expand its ballot to five players (something I’ve been a proponent for to get more players to New York and asked the Heisman trust to consider – unfortunately they said no):

    4. Kyler Murray, Oklahoma

Last week, Murray didn’t start against Baylor for disciplinary reasons, but finished with possibly the best back-up performance by a quarterback in Big 12 history: 441 yards passing, six touchdowns and no interceptions along with 477 yards total offense.

Up next: Oklahoma plays Texas in Dallas on Saturday.

    5. Trace McSorley, Penn State

McSorley carried Penn State’s offense last week against Ohio State. It’s a shame he wasn’t given the chance to convert that final fourth down by running or passing. McSorley torched the Buckeyes for 457 yards total offense – 175 yards rushing and 286 yards passing with two touchdowns.

Up next: Penn State is off this week. The Nittany Lions host Michigan State on Oct. 13.

Others who could move into my top five (in alphabetical order):

    Justin Herbert, Oregon

    McKenzie Milton, UCF

    Brett Rypien, Boise State

    Benny Snell, Kentucky

    Jonathan Taylor, Wisconsin

My Heisman winner based on last week only:

    Trace McSorley, Penn State
