Four-star offensive lineman Caleb Chandler has reopened his recruitment only a few weeks after committing to Iowa State. Chandler announced his decision to back off his pledge from June 19 on Tuesday.

“First off would like to thank God for all of this, none of this would possibly without him blessing me with it all,” Chandler wrote. “I would like to thank Coach Campbell and Coach Manning in believing in me from the start and I have nothing but love for Iowa State University,” Chandler posted. “But after a lot of thought and talking with my parents and family, I feel like I may have rushed my commitment. This is the biggest decision of my life and I need to make sure I make the right one. So with that said, I’ve decided to rescind my verbal commitment to Iowa State University and to reopen my recruitment. I would like I need to weigh out all my options and make sure I make the best decision for me and my family. I will take five official visits and know that Iowa State will be one of them. But I just gotta take my time and make the best decision for me and my family and not rush anything. Thanks you!!” [sic]

Chandler then posted a graphic of the six schools he is now considering, including the Cyclones. He’s also eyeing Florida, Georgia Southern, Louisville, Mississippi State and Virginia Tech.

Out of Jefferson, Georgia, Chandler stands at 6-foot-5 and 302 pounds, and is ranked as the No. 21 offensive guard in the country for the 2017 class by Scout.
