This one is a bit closer for me to make a pick on, but I have to choose one side of the fence, and I’m going with the Mountaineers. I’m still very impressed with how they played against Tennessee. Jalin Moore is going to rack up more than 100 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns to lead Appalachian State to a win over Toledo.

Rockets quarterback Logan Woodside led the nation with 43 touchdown passes and threw only nine interceptions, and he completed nearly 70 percent of his throws. He is very accurate but will be going up against a Mountaineers defense that finished third in the nation with 20 interceptions, led by freshman Clifton Duck’s five. I love the variety of looks that Appalachian State throws at opponents on offense, and I think that diverse unit will be the difference in a game that the ‘Neers win by a field goal and cap off a season in which they nearly knocked off Tennessee.

Congrats, Appalachian State and Toledo. You get to spend time in (gak) Montgomery. Just joking, Montgomery. I have a lot of great friends that live there and love it.

Appalachian State rolls over the Rockets as the curse of Northern Ohio (it is going to become a thing) continues after the Cleveland Indians’ collapse* in the World Series.

*I only bring this up because it has been almost a month since I mentioned that the Chicago Cubs, the team I have been a lifelong fan of, won the World Series!
