Mike White has added a big addition to Florida’s 2017 class with the pledge of three-star power forward Chase Johnson. The big man took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to announce his commitment to the Gators program.

Johnson had an impressive list of offers and chose the Gators over a large number of major programs, including the likes of Arizona, Butler, Clemson, Kansas State, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

Before transferring to Huntington Prep, Johnson was a product of Ripley High School in West Virginia, where he averaged a resounding 17.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

He is capable of stretching the floor and knocking down mid-range jumpers and three pointers, but also provides a solid presence in the paint. Johnson excels at boxing out opponents and being a force on the glass. He’s very effective at drawing a double team in the post and finishing underneath the basket with multiple defenders on him.

Johnson is the third commit to join Florida’s 2017 class, joining four-star point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and four-star wing DeAundrae Ballard.
