Why You Need To Care

Cincinnati and Miami (Ohio) meet for the 120th time in a storied rivalry that began in 1888. The Bearcats have owned the Victory Bell the last nine seasons, only once winning by less than double-digits. Cincy wants to maintain its dominance now more than ever, since it suffered a crushing home loss to Temple in Week 2. The RedHawks, which are still building for second-year head coach Chuck Martin, were blanked by Wisconsin a week ago, 58-0.

Why Cincinnati Will Win

The RedHawks were wrecked by a Badger team that was without its best offensive player. Expect more of the same this weekend versus the Bearcats. Cincinnati may have stumbled against Temple, but that was Temple. And this is Miami U., a team QB Gunner Kiel and his weapons will have few issues solving.

Why Miami (Ohio) Will Win

Where are the Bearcats heads after being beaten up by the Owls? Cincinnati may be slow to regroup from a game that could derail its league title hopes. Plus, Cincy had problems stopping the run in Week 2, which will entice Martin to lean a little harder on his young backs, Leonard Ross, Alonzo Smith and Kenny Young.

Player Who Matters

If the Bearcats are going to move closer to being a complete team, they’ve got to get more help from the interior linemen, captain Alex Pace and rookie Cortez Broughton. Cincinnati was soft against the run in the Temple loss, allowing six yards a carry to Jahad Thomas & Co.

What’s Going To Happen?

It’ll take a quarter or so for the Bearcats to clear their heads. But once they do, they’ll steamroll their in-state rival. Miami can’t match the Cincinnati firepower. In fact, the RedHawk attack doesn’t measure up well with many FBS teams these days.
