Alabama kept its spot at the top of the Amway Coaches Poll, but there was plenty of movement throughout the rest of the rankings. Arkansas blocked TCU’s potential winning field goal at the end of the regulation, then scored a touchdown in each overtime session to beat the Horned Frogs 41-38 and enter the poll.
DeShaun Watson and Clemson failed to get the offense going against Troy and sputtered throughout before eventually surviving a 30-24 scare at home. A second straight mediocre performance dropped the Tigers down to No. 3, as Florida State replaced them at No. 2 after routing Charleston Southern.
Michigan leaped idle Stanford into the No. 5 slot, while Washington and Louisville – with Lamar Jackson running the show right into the Heisman race – rounded out the new-look top 10.
