It is the last of February, and I think we can all agree that this month is the hardest to get past. There’s really nothing major going on, it’s cold, and by month’s end you are just looking forward to the entrance of March as a sign that spring is just around the corner. Well, we have almost made it. Let’s all celebrate by doing a few cartwheels around our respective offices or homes. Ready? Let’s go!

In college football news, Clemson transfer Tyshon Dye said Miami is his leader right now, Duke quarterback Thomas Sirk is transferring to spend his sixth year of eligibility at another school, and we take a look at some spring practice storylines for the likes of Ole Miss, North Carolina, and Iowa State. Here are some other newsworthy notes.

Michigan Needs to Refinance – The University of Michigan athletic department is in debt. How much? Oh, just for $240 million.

That doesn’t mean that the football team will be keeping their budget low. An anonymous donor has paid the price tag for the team’s trip to Italy. The reason for the debt? A lot of new facilities being built and renovations to ones already standing. The Wolverines will start paying $20 million a year toward the debt in 2019.

Mullen Getting Paid – Mississippi State and head coach Dan Mullen have agreed to a four-year contract extension through 2021, with Mullen being paid $4.5 million in 2017.

That’s not bad for a head coach that has an overall conference record of 29-35. I’m guessing the Bulldogs’ powers-that-be are just happy they are not in the mess that a certain coach across the state has his program in.

Brick By Brick – Tennessee wide receiver Jauan Jennings has had the misdemeanor drug charge against him from January dismissed from court.

This is good news for Butch Jones and the Volunteers, as he will be the returning leading receiver after catching 40 passes for 580 yards and seven touchdowns this past season.
