I’m extremely late to the party here – the show first aired back in 2013 – but I have started watching The Americans and am officially hooked. It could well be my new favorite action/drama show on television, and here’s the thing: it reminds me that I am definitely not made out for spy work. In college football, Michigan star Jabrill Peppers has declared for the NFL Draft, Alabama head coach Nick Saban confirms that running back Bo Scarbrough broke a bone in his right leg during the national championship game, and Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney says the best is yet to come for the Tigers. Welcome Back, Champs – When the Clemson Tigers got home on Tuesday, a crowd of an estimated 6,000 fans were waiting to greet them. The celebration certainly caught the players, including linebacker Ben Boulware, by surprise.

“I had tears in my eyes when I saw it,” Boulware said. “Our fans are uncommon, our football team is uncommon, and the culture here is uncommon. I’m pumped for the team and the guys that laid the foundation for us, but really I’m so happy for this community that waited too damn long for us to bring that trophy back.”

Urban Has His Man – As had been expected for a week, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has hired former Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson as his offensive coordinator in Columbus. Wilson will take over an offense full of talent, including returning quarterback J.T. Barrett and running back Mike Weber, who rushed for 1,096 yards and nine touchdowns in his redshirt freshman season.

Berkeley Awaits – Having firing Sonny Dykes after four seasons, the California Bears are looking for a new head coach. Some names have started to pop up (besides Chip Kelly), including current Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason and Wisconsin defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox. The Badgers finished 7th in the nation in total defense this past season, allowing just 301.4 yards per game.
