I will be out of the country for 13 days starting tomorrow, so it will be up to my colleague Jonathan Bass or someone else to keep you filled in on the happenings of the college football world while I am off meeting with extremely important people to discuss foreign relations and how we can solve the world problems. Or, I might just be in Europe drinking beer. That is how I make the world better.

In college football news, we take a look at what Randy Edsall must do to mend the fences and recapture the magic now that he is back in Storrs, Kentucky has hired a new defensive coordinator, and we tell you which recruits from the 2017 class will be Heisman Trophy contenders in the future. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

Stanford and Rice Go Down Under – The Cardinal and Owls will travel halfway across the world to Sydney to open the 2017 season. The two teams will play on August 27 (well, it will be August 26 in The States), a week before the rest of the teams open. The game was originally supposed to be played in Houston.

Considering the reputation of the two schools’ bands, let’s all hope that Australians have a sense of humor.

Herman Doing Work – It comes as no surprise that the hiring of Tom Herman as the Texas head coach would make some of the players committed to Houston rethink their decision during the recruiting process, and it continued on Monday as 3-star offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi flipped his commitment from the Cougars to Texas.

“I am so excited and proud to say I will be a Longhorn. God is good. Hook ’em,” Cosmi said in a statement.

Wait, It Wasn’t Bama Fans? – A pair of University of Oklahoma students were arrested after they broke into LSU’s Tiger Stadium on Sunday afternoon. This is the fourth incident in January where someone has entered the stadium illegally.
