This morning while getting ready for work, I caught the beginning of a Walker, Texas Ranger episode. Enthralled, the bad guy showed up and it was none other than the villain from Fletch Lives: Randall “Tex” Cobb. I immediately questioned my life decisions when I recognized him from Fletch Lives.

In college football news, we explain why former LSU quarterback Brandon Harris could thrive at UNC, class of 2019 running back Noah Cain is becoming familiar with the Bayou Bengals, and we give three storylines to watch out for during Kansas State’s spring practice. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

From South Bend to Austin? – New Texas head coach Tom Herman has been shaking things up for the Longhorns, and now he is looking to bring ex-Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire into the mix.

Herman already has two quarterback in the competition for starter with Shane Buechele and Sam Ehlinger, but those are the only two scholarship players at that position.

Pay The Players! – At least according to former Michigan tight end Jake Butt, who discussed why college athletes should be played.

“I should be the example of why college athletes should be getting paid in college or why I can’t use my name to benefit off my likeness in college,” Butt said. “Why can I see ‘I Like Jake Butt and I Cannot Lie,’ I see those shirts and I’m living paycheck-to-paycheck in college. Who knows? Heaven forbid something happens in the NFL, can I really benefit off of it when it was at the most? No, I can’t.”

Hurting Irish – Notre Dame running back C.J. Holmes injured his shoulder during spring practice and will miss the rest of the workouts, according to head coach Brian Kelly. He will have a MRI to see if there is any significant damage.
