College Football News Roundup – October 20

A college football news roundup that includes an injury update on UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen and Alcorn State receiving NCAA probation.

While getting ready this morning, I was watching an old episode of The Match Game. It is apparent to me that there was absolutely no screening back in the ’70s, as most of the contestants had absolutely no personality and seem scared of the camera. That, or the fact Richard Dawson French-kissed them any chance he could get.

In college football, Tennessee head coach Butch Jones said he needs some young players to step up in the final stretch of the season, Houston head coach Tom Herman talked about Urban Meyer’s impact on him, and we here at Campus Insiders discussed the best possible option for Chip Kelly if he were to return to coaching in the college ranks. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

Rosen Question – UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen is questionable for the Bruins game against Utah on Saturday, head coach Jim Mora said. Rosen has been troubled with a lower body and shoulder injury.

“I’m very, very hopeful that you’ll see him playing this Saturday against Utah at the Rose Bowl,” Mora said.

Lawsuit In Charlottesville – A former UVA football player has filed a lawsuit against the school alleging that teammates hazed him, specifically bullied him due to him having a learning disability.

The lawsuit claims that UVA “fostered a culture of bullying, abuse, harassment, and discrimination.”

Vacate-tion – Alcorn State must vacate its football wins from 2012 and 2013 after the NCAA placed the Braves on probation through 2018, saying the athletic department “failed to monitor its progress-toward-degree certification process when it improperly certified 28 student-athletes.”

It is always the little guy that gets the hammer, isn’t it?
