    Why You Need To Care

UMass and Colorado participated in a thriller last September that was won by the Buffs, 41-38. Colorado will need to harness some of that magic, because the team began 2015 with a devastating loss to Hawaii, one of the few opponents the Buffs were expected to defeat. The Minutemen were off last weekend, making this long trip out west the start of their season.

    Why Massachusetts Will Win

Where’s Colorado’s head after losing to Hawaii in a game that ended in controversy? The offense, the one thing the Buffs thought they could count on, disappointed, especially in pass protection. The Minutemen, meanwhile, are ready to unleash an offense that’ll produce plenty of Blake Frohnapfel to Tajae Sharpe scoring strikes this season.

    Why Colorado Will Win

The Buffaloes should get a bit of a break this Saturday, since UMass isn’t strong on either line. If the Minutemen fail to pressure Sefo Liufau, he should get back on track following an awful opener. And if Liufau has time, he’ll pick apart defenses with his scrambling and his tosses to Shay Fields and uber-productive senior WR Nelson Spruce.

    Player Who Matters

The Colorado O-line has self-esteem issues after allowing eight tackles for loss and four sacks to Luke Shawley and the Warriors. The front wall’s objective in Week 2 will be to keep an underrated and physical corps of UMass linebackers off Liufau’s back. Jovan Santos-Knox is a next-level defender, and Kassan Messiah charges hard from his outside spot.

    What’s Going To Happen?

With a sense of urgency coursing through its veins, Colorado will survive its visit from Massachusetts. But, just like last September on the East Coast, it will not be easy. Liufau-Spruce will be one touchdown better than Frohnapfel-Sharpe, the difference in another competitive and high-scoring affair.
