Can anyone in the Conference USA Tournament stop the UAB Blazers at this point?
What more could UAB fans asked for this year from their Blazers? A 16-2 conference record and 26-5 record overall has UAB standing tall atop the Conference USA.
Robert Brown and Chris Cokley both average 13.2 points per game for the Blazers, while William Lee, Dirk Williams, and Nick Norton put up some impressive numbers themselves. So it’s fair to ask now – is there anyone in the C-USA that can stop UAB from winning its second conference tourney crown in a row?
It doesn’t seem like it, but Middle Tennessee doesn’t sit too far behind the Blazers and could put a good fight as the No. 2 seed. Louisiana Tech, who was the regular season champ for the past two seasons, sits in third place thanks to senior guard Alex Hamilton (20 PPG) who is as talented as anyone in the conference.
It’ll be tough to keep UAB out of the tournament following the season they’ve put together. Also, as far as the postseason is concerned, it should also be noted that Southern Mississippi (5-13) will not participate in the tournament due to violations from last season.
