Week 7 of the Conference USA football schedule begins on Thursday night with a showdown in the Lone Star State between the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and North Texas. The Mean Green are still looking for their first win on the season, starting 0-5 so far this year, while the Hilltoppers sit atop the C-USA East with a 3-0 conference record.
On Saturday, defending conference champion Marshall travels to Florida to take on the 1-4 Florida Atlantic Owls in a noon kickoff. The Thundering Herd are 5-1 despite being without the services of both starting QB Michael Birdsong and RB Devon Johnson.
Also at noon, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders will look to improve to 3-4 when they host the FIU Golden Panthers in Murfreesboro, and Louisiana Tech looks to pull against the SEC’s Mississippi State in Starkville. The Bulldogs are 7-44-1 all-time against SEC teams.
At 3:30 p.m. ET, the Charlotte 49ers will travel to Norfolk, VA to take on the Old Dominion Monarchs. Both teams are 2-3 on the season and looking to stay in the conference championship race.
In the night game, Southern Miss will look to rebound after a loss to Marshall in Huntington last week when the Golden Eagles host the UTSA Roadrunners at 7:00 p.m. ET in Hattiesburg. The Roadrunners’ only victory on the season was two weeks ago at UTEP.
