Week 2 Conference USA football schedule, picks, and previews, including Louisiana Tech vs. Western Kentucky, Texas vs. Rice, and FIU vs. Indiana.
The second week of Conference USA football play is upon us, and with it comes some intriguing conference and non-con matchups.
First on the docket is an East/West battle between Western Kentucky, which is coming off a defeat of the SEC’s Vanderbilt Commodores, and Louisiana Tech. This could be a preview of the Conference USA Championship Game.
On Friday, the Miami Hurricanes travel north to face the FAU Owls in Boca Raton. The Owls fell in a 47-44 barn burner to Tulsa in the first game of the season. An upset over the Canes would be just what the doctor ordered to get back on track, but FAU is going to need to pull out all of the stops to accomplish that.
Saturday presents several opportunities for the conference to upset Power Five teams, including Middle Tennessee at Alabama, UTEP at Texas Tech, FIU at Indiana, and Rice at Texas. It’ll be interesting to see how the Longhorns respond after a deflating loss to Notre Dame, and if FIU can keep the momentum rolling following its big win over UCF.
