FSU DT Darvin Taylor ‘Coming Along’, Could Be Big Factor This Season

FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher is excited about the potential of his defense, including defensive tackle Darvin Taylor.

The Florida State defensive line is loaded with talent, with starters Derrick Nnadi and Demarcus Christmas returning for the 2017 season. Head coach Jimbo Fisher is excited about another player on that unit: Darvin Taylor.

“Let me tell you this — Darvin Taylor’s gonna be a really good player,” Fisher said. “Taylor is really coming on. He’s athletic, he’s strong, he’s powerful, he’s smart.”

If Taylor, who is had shoulder surgery but has fully recovered, comes on like Fisher expects, the Seminoles will be a force in the trenches again despite the departure of DeMarcus Walker, who led the team with 16 sacks last season.

Here are some other notable quotes from Fisher’s time with the media on Wednesday.

On sophomore linebackers Josh Brown, Emmett Rice and Dontavious Jackson

“Josh Brown’s been solid. Emmett Rice has been good. D-Jack’s OK. He’s been OK – needs to play more consistently. Be more physical.”

On freshman defensive backs Stanford Samuels and Cyrus Fagan

“The young DBs have all been really good. Stanford Samuels has been outstanding. Fagan’s been really good.”

On senior safety Trey Marshall

“Trey Marshall has had an outstanding spring. I mean, Trey has played outstanding. I have been very happy with his progress.”
