The Farleigh Dickinson Knights have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.
Team: Fairleigh Dickinson Knights
Record: 18-14
Conference: Northeast Conference
Head coach: Greg Herenda
How they got here: Won conference tournament
The Knights got hot at the right time, winning the NEC Tourney and finding themselves in the NCAA Tournament. FDU likes to push the tempo a bit, but this isn’t a run-and-gun squad. Four players average double figures in scoring, led by Darian Anderson, who does a great job of being a scorer while also keeping his teammates involved. Earl Potts Jr. is a solid scorer and rebounder who also can step out and stretch the floor.
FDU isn’t a great defensive team, and a lack of size inside could create some matchup problems vs. bigger teams. The Knights also can be a bit loose with the ball—Anderson averages 3.1 turnovers a game—and this is a team that is up and down from the perimeter.
FDU is a nice story, but it’s one that won’t last very long. The Knights haven’t really played anyone this year, and all of their wins have come against teams with an RPI of 150 or higher. Look for a quick out from FDU.
