The Kibbie Dome in little Moscow, Idaho, is one of the most underrated venues in college football. It can get quite loud in there when filled, and the Vandals have had some decent teams run through there. It’s kind of a shame it won’t be on the list of FBS stadiums come 2018 when it moves down to the FCS level. But, I digress.

As much as I’m a closet fan of Idaho’s, it won’t have enough to keep up with Colorado State. The Rams get a relatively easy victory behind Izzy Matthews and Dalyn Dawkins.

There were definitely some quarterback issues for the Rams when the season began. Nick Stevens certainly wasn’t ready to lead that team. But, somewhere along the way, Stevens regained the starting job when Faton Bauta proved to be ineffective and Colin Hill went down with an injury. Stevens won’t be why Colorado State wins this game, but he will play well. The real keys to the game will be the duo of Dalyn Dawkins and Izzy Matthews. They’ll both find their ways into the end zone and help give the Rams the win.

I would expect the Vandals to put up a strong effort, particularly in the first half. The program is sadly transitioning out of FBS play, as this is its next-to-last year in the Sun Belt and FBS before moving to the FCS’ Big Sky in 2018. So Paul Petrino’s 8-4 squad will want to put a nice bow on a season in which it has won six of its final eight games.

Meanwhile, the Rams have really turned it on offensively, averaging 38.5 points per contest in Mountain West play. Wide receiver Michael Gallup had 70 catches and over 1,000 receiving yards with 11 touchdowns, so look for quarterback Nick Stevens to connect with him on a few big plays. Ultimately, this is a Rams offense that will be a bit too much for the Vandals defense to contain for a full four quarters in a Colorado State victory.

“Man, isn’t this cool? My former team playing in a bowl game with the players I recruited. It doesn’t get any better man, and in the land of potatoes? Man, remember when Dan Quayle forgot the ‘e’ on the end and became a national joke? Some of these words are just hard, man. What I like to do, on my baked potato, is put some sour cream and chives in it, and then just squirt butter right into my mouth before taking a bite. It’s amazing, man. I call it the Butter Ball Potato. Cool, man.” – Jim McElwain (probably)

Rams with a big win here. Sorry, Idaho.
