Florida State Scores Touchdown in Final Minute to Down Wake Forest

Florida State recorded their first win of the season in dramatic fashion at Wake Forest.

True freshman James Blackman threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Auden Tate with 53 seconds to lift Florida State to a 26-19 win over Wake Forest on Saturday.

The win was the first of the year for the Seminoles, who had a 21-day layoff after Week 1 because of Hurricane Irma.

Wake Forest jumped out to a 12-3 lead in the second quarter before a Jacques Patrick touchdown run and Rick Aguayo field goal gave Florida State a 13-12 lead at halftime.

Wake Forest took the lead early in the fourth quarter through a Matt Colburn seven-yard touchdown run. The road team bounced back with a 35-yard field goal from Aguayo to tie the game.

The Seminoles got the ball back with with 1:01 left in regulation and Blackman threw a strike to Tate on the first play of the drive.

Blackman completed 11 of 21 passes for 121 yards on the day.

Florida State returns home to face Miami next week. Things don’t get easier for Wake Forest as they travel to play Clemson on Saturday.
