St. John’s has reportedly landed 2018 small forward Boubacar Diakite, according to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello.

A 6-foot-8 wing out of Our Savior New American School in Centereach, New York, Diakite is listed by 247Sports as a 4-star prospect. He was also receiving interest from Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, UConn, and Wake Forest. St. John’s, however, was the only team to extend an offer to the versatile wing.

Head coach Chris Mullin extended this offer to Diakite back on February 11.

Diakite is extremely athletic and has an impressive mid-range game. He’s very fast and can explode to the rim with ease for a thunderous slam dunk. His agility allows him to blow past opponents and get to the hoop at a very impressive rate.

This is a huge signing for the Red Storm, as Diakite is likely to receive more national attention as his high school career continues and his game develops.

He is the first member of St. John’s 2018 class.
