Four-Star JUCO CB Jhavonte Dean Decommits From Alabama

Four-star JUCO cornerback Jhavonte Dean has decommitted from the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Four-star JUCO cornerback Jhavonte Dean has decommitted from Alabama, he announced on Twitter on Saturday evening.

“I would like to thank the coaching staff at Alabama for giving me a chance to play under a well coached team, unfortunately I won’t be enrolling into the university. I’ve made a decision with my family and I will be de-committing from the university of Alabama.”

With Dean’s decommitment, the Crimson Tide now have 24 total commits in the 2017 cycle and sit at No. 2 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings.

Coming out of South Dade High School in Homestead, Fla., Dean was a 3-star recruit that originally signed with the Cincinnati Bearcats. However, he had to go the JUCO route to improve his grades and signed with Blinn College.

Prior to his original verbal commitment to Alabama on January 21, Dean had taken a series of official visits to Miami, Arizona State and Utah. He also held offers from the likes of Florida, Oregon State and TCU.

It is widely believed, however, that the Hurricanes are the strong favorites to land Dean’s services.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, Dean is listed as the No. 20 JUCO prospect in the 2017 class.
