FSU vs. USF prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen in Saturday’s matchup between the Seminoles and Bulls.

Sneakily, this might be one of the more fun games all weekend. One of those where you’re all hungover on the couch, look up scores, and think there’s typo because the score says 35-31 midway through the fourth quarter. USF has one of the best, most balanced, offenses in the country and have yet to score less than 45 points on the year. FSU will win, but the over/under is set at 61 and that ain’t because the Noles are running away with it.

To all of the Florida State fans freaking out after that blowout loss to Louisville, relax. Deondre Francois is a tough kid, and he’s shown flashes early on. The guy can play. Dalvin Cook has been bottled up so far, but this is the game where he lets loose. Cook has excellent vision and patience, and he’ll put them to great use against USF. Cook will go off for 150-plus rushing yards, and Francois will notch a couple of touchdown throws. The Seminoles take this one easily.

This is one of the more intriguing games of the weekend. Florida State is coming off a brutal beatdown at Louisville last week; how will that affect the Seminoles this week? South Florida is playing good football and will be hyped for the home showdown against the state of Florida’s big boys. The Bulls will cause Nole Nation to sweat, scoring a couple of big touchdowns and leading at times, but won’t be able to stop Dalvin Cook when it matters most.

Jimbo Fisher said during his weekly ACC coaches teleconference that it’s evident how well-coached USF is by popping in its game tape. Even though the Seminoles will be focused after putting the Louisville game in the rearview mirror, they will be tested by a USF squad that will compete for the AAC crown. Quinton Flowers and the USF offense will be able to move the football against the ‘Noles, and the Bulls’ defense will give the FSU offense some fits. But Dalvin Cook is the difference in this one after being held in check by Louisville last week. A Cook touchdown run on a long drive late in the fourth quarter gives FSU a victory in Tampa.

This is the battle that the entire state of Florida talks about 365 days a year: Florida State and South Florida. What pageantry and rivalry. Wow. I’m getting chills. The Seminoles rebound with a big win.
