4-Star WR Jamire Calvin Commits To Oregon State Beavers

Four-star wide receiver Jamire Calvin committed to Oregon State, giving the Beavers 18 total commits in the 2017 recruiting class.

The nation’s No. 33 wide receiver has ended his recruitment and is ready to start his collegiate football career.

On Saturday, at the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, 4-star prospect Jamire Calvin committed to Oregon State. The Beavers now have 18 total pledges in the 2017 recruiting class and moved up from No. 49 to No. 43 in the recruiting class rankings.

Calvin, who’s ranked as the No. 231 overall player in the country, chose Oregon State over Nebraska while holding additional offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Cal, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oregon and a few other Power Five programs. It was believed the Cornhuskers were going to land Calvin, but the Beavers surged late in the process to land his commitment.

At 5-foot-10, 150 lbs., Calvin definitely needs to add weight at the next level, but he sure can fly off the line of scrimmage. And he combines that speed with excellent route-running skills, great body control and reliable hands.

Calvin is also a threat in the return game. He sees the field very well, and he’s capable of taking it to the end zone every time he touches the ball.

The Beavers now have four wide receivers committed in the class. Calvin joins Isaiah Hodgins as their only 4-star pass catchers. However, they also have pledges from 3-star prospects Kolby Taylor, Quantino Allen and Arex Flemings.
