Three-star athlete Jordan Genmark-Heath flipped his commitment from Cal to Notre Dame on Thursday, giving the Fighting Irish 16 total commits in the 2017 recruiting class.

What goes around comes back around, and that was the case for the Golden Bears and Fighting Irish.

On Thursday, about two weeks after 4-star cornerback Elijah Hicks ditched South Bend for Berkley, 3-star prospect Jordan Genmark-Heath flipped his commitment from Cal to Notre Dame.

The San Diego native is ranked as the No. 41 athlete in the country and the No. 6 athlete in the state of California. He released a statement regarding his decision to flip from the Golden Bears to the Irish.

“These past [two] weeks have been the most hectic two weeks of my recruiting process. My world got flipped upside down when the majority of the Cal Football coaching staff was dismissed. Until today, I’ve been fully committed to Cal and the coaches that offered me the opportunity to be a part of the Cal family. Coach Burns, Coach Dykes, KP, players and everyone that made me feel at hoe, thank you. I would also like to thank Coach Wilcox, coach Alexander and Coach DeRuyter for taking time to visit me and my family in what I know is an even more intense process. I’m honored to have met you all. Me and my family have carefully evaluated my opportunities to excel on the next level and [came] to the conclusion that Notre Dame is a better fit for me. It is with great pride I announce that I will be joining the Fighting Irish this fall. This decision did not come easy, and I’d appreciate some time to focus on my family, friends and senior year. This time will never come back, and I want to enjoy it.”

Notre Dame now has 16 total commits in the cycle and sits at No. 13 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings.
