Four-star tight end Josh Whyle committed to Cincinnati on Thursday afternoon, giving the Bearcats their second commit in the 2018 recruiting class.

The nation’s No. 11-ranked tight end has decided where he wants to spend his collegiate football career, and he’s going to stay within his home state. Actually, he’s going to stay in his hometown as well.

Four-star prospect Josh Whyle committed to Cincinnati on Thursday afternoon, as the Bearcats now have their second commit in the 2018 recruiting cycle. Currently, Cincinnati sits at No. 41 in the recruiting class rankings. But the Bearcats do have the best class among teams in the American Athletic Conference.

Whyle, who measures in at 6-foot-5, 215 lbs, is ranked as the No. 2 tight end in the state of Ohio. He holds additional scholarship offers from Auburn, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Minnesota, Oregon, Tennessee, Wisconsin and others.

He released a brief statement regarding his pledge to the Bearcats.

“I’m extremely excited to announce I have committed to the University of Cincinnati!”

Whyle will bring a long frame and a lot of athleticism to the Cincinnati offense. He’s a reliable pass catcher, who consistently snatches the ball out of the air and attacks it at its highest point.

He’s the kind of tight end you can trust to secure the catch and find the first-down marker, and he’ll consistently make difficult grabs despite traffic over the middle. When he does make the catch with room to run, defenders have a hard time bringing him down, as he’ll fight for extra yardage.
