Jimmy Butler was in action for the Timberwolves, but he wasn’t able to halt the team’s losing streak.

LeBron James recorded 24 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists as the Lakers defeated the Timberwolves 114-110 to hand Minnesota a fourth straight loss. Josh Hart added 20 points off the bench for Los Angeles. He went 5-of-7 from 3-point range to continue his hot shooting start.

Butler was playing in his second consecutive game after sitting in Sunday’s contest against Portland. The guard had 24 points, five rebound and five assists in the close loss. Derrick Rose, who seems to have turned back the clock, put up 31 points and went 7-of-9 from 3-point range. He missed what would’ve been the go-ahead 3.

Newcomer Tyson Chandler made his presence felt by creating three extra offensive possessions at the end of the game to run off additional time. Chandler finished the game with two points and nine rebounds in 23 minutes.

Both teams were red hot from behind the arc. The Lakers shot 44.1 percent from deep while the Timberwolves hit the 50-percent mark. Minnesota hit a franchise-record 20 3-pointers in the game, but couldn’t seal the deal.

The Lakers got a big win after getting blown out by the Raptors Sunday. Los Angeles will have some extra rest before playing a back-to-back over the weekend.

The Timberwolves play the Kings Friday, but it is unknown whether Butler will play in the contest. According to Stadium NBA insider Shams Charania, Butler is reportedly going to sit out select games as he waits for the team to trade him. Minnesota has reportedly not made significant progress on trade talks, according to Charania.

If Minnesota does not move Butler soon, it’ll be interesting to see what his next move will be. The Timberwolves are currently near the bottom of the Western conference standings, so games will carry more significance as the season goes on.
