The longest active college football winning streaks heading into the 2016-17 season. Only 11 teams have three or more wins.
No FBS team escaped the 2015 season with an unblemished record. The Clemson Tigers were the closest, carrying a 14-0 record into the national championship game against the Alabama Crimson Tide, but they were handed their first loss of the season in a 45-40 defeat.
With the win, Alabama now has the nation’s longest active college football winning streak (at the FBS level) with 12 victories in a row. The Crimson Tide last lost to Ole Miss in the third game of the 2015 season but have since remained perfect.
Only one other team in the country joins Alabama with a double-digit winning streak, the San Diego State Aztecs. The Aztecs have ripped off 10 straight wins, including a Mountain West title game victory over Air Force and a Hawai’i Bowl defeat of Cincinnati.
Tennessee and Western Kentucky are each riding six game winning streaks.
