Meanwhile, the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech experienced heartbreak city in their season opener, failing to upset Arkansas in a 21-20 loss. The Razorbacks used a pair of fourth-down conversions in the fourth quarter to rally and avoid another early season setback to a non-Power Five squad.

What To Know About South Carolina State

The Bulldogs gave up three touchdowns to dual-threat UCF signal-caller Justin Holman in a shutout loss last week, and the Knights converted two of their three turnovers into points. Bulldogs quarterback Caleb York finished 15-of-35 passing for 134 yards, and he led the team with 10 carries for 38 yards. It was an uninspiring offensive effort to say the least.

What to Know About Louisiana Tech

Minus 13 starters from last season’s team, the Bulldogs resembled the squad that has won nine games (including a pair of bowl games) in each of the last two seasons. Freshman quarterback J’Mar Smith, who was playing in place of suspended starter Ryan Higgins, finished 19-of-31 passing for 212 yards, and he was not in awe of the moment. Smith read the Razorbacks’ defense well, connecting with wide receiver Trent Taylor eight times for 78 yards.
