The No. 18 Louisville Cardinals will host the No. 20 Duke Blue Devils at the KFC Yum! Center on Saturday in hopes of evening the season series.

The Cardinals (20-6, 9-4 ACC) were able to end their two-game slide Wednesday defeating the Syracuse Orange, 72-58, at home. Louisville put together a 20-9 run to grab a one-point lead at the half and would never trail from that point on as it held off Syracuse until the game broke open. The Cards’ dominance in the paint and bench scoring were the keys to the win. Louisville outscored Syracuse, 50-20, down low and its bench outscored the Orange bench, 25-7. Damion Lee led the Cards with a team-high 15 points, adding six boards and four assists. Trey Lewis was responsible for most of the bench points, finishing with 14.

The Blue Devils (20-6, 9-4 ACC) are winners of five straight games, including their biggest win of the year last time out against their hated rival, North Carolina. In the final minute, Duke held a slim one-point lead thanks to a pair of Grayson Allen free throws. After a Kennedy Meeks missed layup, Allen missed a jumper at the other end leaving North Carolina 24 seconds to win the game. With the ball in his hands and the clock winding down, Joel Berry II had his shot blocked by Derryck Thornton, sealing the 74-73 win for the Blue Devils. Duke’s three-point shooting proved to be the edge in this one as they converted 36.8 percent of their attempts compared to 7.7 percent for UNC. Both Allen (23 points) and Ingram (20 points, 10 rebounds) played all 40 minutes to lead a depleted Blue Devil roster.

Louisville and Duke will meet up for the 12th time on Wednesday, with the Blue Devils leading the all-time series, 7-4. This is the second meeting between the two programs this season as Duke beat Louisville, 72-65, on Feb. 8.

    Prediction

It’s hard to bet against the Blue Devils these days, especially after watching Wednesday night’s classic. Duke has always had the skill, but now it has the will to beat anyone in the country, and that trend will continue on Saturday. Louisville is a team with veterans with nothing to lose, so it will put it all out on the line in front of the Cardinal faithful. That won’t be enough against Grayson Allen and Brandon Ingram, who have been playing out of their minds the last five games. It’ll be close, but the Blue Devils gut out another win and sweep the season series.

    Game Notes

    • Louisville leads the nation in scoring margin (+17.0), is seventh in scoring defense (60.7) and eighth in field goal percentage defense (.381).
    • Grayson Allen is second in the ACC in scoring (20.7 ppg, 19th in the nation) and is fifth in minutes played (35.5 mpg).
    • With five games remaining, Damion Lee needs 50 points to reach 2,000 for his career, including his three seasons at Drexel.
