The Panthers boast the better quarterback, Alex McGough, and a feisty defense that’ll keep the Herd in check. McGough has thrown 21 touchdown passes and only five picks. Marshall, meanwhile, has been so-so on offense, and now must contend with an FIU D that’s third in the league in sacks and tackles for loss.
The Herd is unbeaten in Huntington, holding opponents to just 13.6 points per game at home. Florida International, on the other hand, is 1-5 on the road, getting outscored in those games, 30-20. DE Gary Thompson and the attacking Marshall D will cause fits for the Panther blockers on Saturday.
Marshall must bounce back from last week’s loss to Middle Tennessee to remain in the East Division race. And everyone in green knows it. The Herd will once again hold serve at home, silencing McGough with pressure and a secondary that’s No. 2 nationally in pass efficiency defense.
Final Score: Marshall 28, Florida International 21, Line: Marshall -12, o/u: 50.5
